Side Sleeper Pillow That Holds Its Loft | Pillow Guy
Your neck isn't the problem. Your pillow is flat by 3am.
On your side, there's a 4–6" gap between your head and the mattress. Most pillows fill it at 11pm and lose it by morning. The Overstuffed Signature Down Alternative is packed with 55–60 oz of Cooling Poly-Gel Fiber to keep that gap filled all night.

The 4–6 inch problem.
Lie on your side and your shoulder sets the height. For most adults the space between the side of your head and the mattress is about 4 to 6 inches. Your pillow's job is to fill it.
When it does, your head stays level with your spine. Your neck isn't propped up and it isn't hanging. That's neutral alignment: the structural position your neck is built to rest in.
When it doesn't, your head tips toward the mattress and the side of your neck spends hours in a stretch it never agreed to.
Here's the catch: most pillows fill the gap when you lie down, then lose it overnight.
You fall asleep on a full pillow. Around 3am your head has pressed it down, the fill has moved out to the edges, and you're on two inches of pillow with a six-inch gap. You don't wake up to fix it. You wake up at 6:30 with a stiff neck, wondering what you did.
You didn't do anything. Your pillow gave out.
Three ways a pillow quits on a side sleeper.
Compression: it flattens under you.
A side sleeper puts all of the head's weight on one small spot of the pillow for hours. Underfilled pillows can't push back, so the loft that felt right at bedtime is gone by the middle of the night.
Loft shift: the fill moves away from your head.
Loose, low-grade fill migrates. It packs into the corners and leaves a dip right where your head sits. You're still sleeping on "a pillow." You're just sleeping in the low spot.
Cheap poly: it clumps and doesn't recover.
Bargain polyester fill matts into lumps after a few washes, or after a few months, and stops springing back. Once it stops re-lofting, it can't fill the gap, no matter how hard you punch it.
And memory foam? It holds a shape, but it holds heat too. It can feel stiff, and it can't go in the washer. Many side sleepers trade a flat pillow for a hot one.
Overstuffed. On purpose.
The Signature Down Alternative Pillow comes in two lofts. For side sleepers, we built the Overstuffed with roughly double the fill of our Soft loft. That extra fill is what keeps the gap filled at 3am.
| Size | Soft | Overstuffed |
|---|---|---|
| Standard/Queen (20" × 28") | 27 oz | 55 oz |
| King (20" × 36") | 38 oz | 60 oz |
Fill weight is per pillow.
Why fill weight matters
More fill means more material under your head pushing back. The Overstuffed starts higher and has the density to stay there, so you don't sink to the mattress by morning.
Cooling Poly-Gel Fiber: support without the heat.
The core is Cooling Poly-Gel Fiber. It's built to feel like down: plush and moldable, so you can shape it into your neck. It breathes instead of trapping heat, and it doesn't clump or go flat after a few months. It's OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, hypoallergenic, and 100% animal-free.
280 TC long-staple cotton percale shell + MicronOne®.
Crisp, cool, and smooth. The MicronOne® allergen barrier is woven right into the shell — not a coating — so it doesn't wash out. It blocks dust mites, pollen, pet dander, and bed bugs down to 1 micron, with a 99.9% allergen block.
Built to be maintained.
Machine wash on gentle and tumble dry low with a couple of dryer balls. Make sure it's fully dry. With that care, expect good loft and support for 2–3 years. Each pillow includes a matching cotton protector with a hidden zipper, a $35 value.

What side sleepers notice first.
Sitewide: 4.8 from 8,300+ sleepers
"I have been looking for a good pillow for my neck… This one is pretty great. My neck isn't stiff when I wake up now. I'm very happy with this purchase."
"Wow what a great pillow. It doesn't flatten out like others I have had. I highly recommend it."
"One of my favorite things is how cool it stays throughout the night… I don't wake up constantly flipping my pillow over to find the cool side."
"I sleep on my side and it's a good height that keeps my neck comfortable. The cover is a great addition and the pillow itself stays pretty cool."
Pick your size. Your loft is already picked.
Loft: side sleepers go Overstuffed.
Overstuffed: for side and back sleepers.
Higher loft that fills the space between your shoulder and head on your side, or cradles your head and neck on your back. If you switch positions during the night, go Overstuffed.
Soft: wrong for most side sleepers.
The lower profile is built for stomach sleepers, who need their head close to the mattress. Choose Soft only if you mostly sleep on your stomach, or you're a petite side sleeper with narrow shoulders who likes a thin pillow.
Sleep on your stomach? See the Soft loft →Size: Queen or King?
Standard/Queen (20" × 28") · 55 oz
Fits standard and queen pillowcases. The right pick for most side sleepers, especially on a queen bed or smaller.
King (20" × 36") · 60 oz

If your pillowcase has a zipper, measure the opening before you order. The Overstuffed is full.

Questions, answered.
Will this fix my stiff neck?
We make no medical claims. Here's what we can tell you: the most common reason side sleepers wake up stiff is a pillow that's too low or goes flat overnight. The Overstuffed is built to fill the shoulder gap and keep its loft through the night. If it's not right for you, you have 30 nights to decide.
Isn't 55 oz too much pillow?
Not for most side sleepers. Your shoulder takes up 4–6" of space and the pillow has to fill it under the full weight of your head. The fill is moldable, so you can shape it into your neck. If you're petite or sleep mostly on your stomach, choose Soft.
Is it a down pillow?
No. It's a down alternative filled with Cooling Poly-Gel Fiber. It has the plush, moldable feel of down with no feathers or animal products. It's OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified and hypoallergenic, with a MicronOne® shell that blocks allergens down to 1 micron (99.9% allergen block).
Can I wash it?
Yes. Machine wash on gentle with mild detergent, then tumble dry on low with a couple of dryer balls until it's completely dry. Wash the included protector every week or two and the pillow itself every 1–3 months.
How does the 30-Night Sleep Trial work?
Sleep on it for up to 30 nights. If it's not the right fit, contact us at pillowguy.com/a/return to start a return.
Stop losing the gap at 3am.
